247Sports college football expert Josh Pate has named the Georgia Bulldogs as a team to sell in 2025.
"I don't think it is crazy to sell on Georgia," said Pate. "But not long term. But if we're talking about last year compared to this upcoming year. Guys, they won the SEC last year and they're below 50% returning production."

Georgia lost 17 players to the 2025 NFL draft and two of the nation's top ranked transfers in quarterback Carson Beck and pass rusher Damon Wilson. Georgia's NFL draft purge featured a mass exodus in the trenches.
"I wonder what the nucleus of the team is?" asked Pate. "Normally, it is running game and defense and they didn't even really do that well last year and so now I don't really know that they're all that proven at tailback. They have to replace a lot along the offensive line. Defensive line and edge, kind of reliant on underclassmen."
Is Georgia on the decline in the trenches?
Georgia's lost production and experience in the trenches is our top concern for UGA in 2025. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart does not like where Georgia stands in the trenches right now.

"We're probably not as good on the line of scrimmage as we have been in the last three to four years," said Smart after Georgia's spring game. "We've got time to get there, and we've got to get there. It's just hard because you've got less defensive linemen and offensive linemen than we've ever had before, and we seem younger."
Georgia lost over 75% of its sack production from the 2024 college football season and four of their starting offensive linemen to the 2025 NFL draft, so there's no easy way for Georgia to replace all of that departing talent.
Georgia has no shortage of talent
Georgia enters the fall with a lot of unknowns. The Bulldogs have stacked several consecutive elite recruiting classes, but will be breaking in a new starting quarterback in addition to replacing all of their departed talent. Georgia's depth is not what it previously was.

"There's really good players," added Pate. "They got scholarships to Georgia for a reason, so a lot of times at Georgia, or in about three or four other programs out there, you could have an All-American by year's end whose name you don't know."
Where Georgia stands at quarterback
"(Gunner) Stockton is a really good athlete, but he's also a mystery until he proves something," noted Pate, who does think that Georgia will get good quarterback play out of Stockton. Stockton performed well in Georgia's spring game, but will need some time to adjust as Georgia's starting quarterback.
"If we're asking if they're going to improve off winning the SEC, (then) I think it is more likely that they take a step back than they take a step forward," said Pate.

We find this to be a pretty reasonable take. Georgia will have to try to sure up a couple of spots in the spring transfer portal and that could help the Bulldogs stabilize some in the trenches.
We just don't see Georgia being a clear cut national championship contender entering fall camp.
