Every detail about Genshin Impact 4.6, including its release date, the new character’s abilities, the character banners, story updates, and events has been revealed through the official livestream. Version 4.6 is following up on Version 4.5’s content, but is bringing a load of content, especially when compared to the previous version. The game is still getting only one new playable character, but, as was first seen in several Genshin Impact 4.6 leaks and rumors, it is also getting an entirely new area with a new world boss, as well as important character quests that connect to a new weekly boss.
What had already been confirmed prior to the leaks was the new playable character, Arlecchino. The Fatui Harbinger, who had made her debut as an NPC in the main Fontaine storyline, is finally arriving in the game, though her abilities were unconfirmed until now. A series of Arlecchino leaks in Genshin Impact 4.6 hinted at her being a 5-star Pyro polearm DPS, and that was officially revealed by developer HoYoverse. All the other information about the upcoming patch was also presented, hinting at what may be a surprisingly rich update near the end of Fontaine’s main lifecycle.

Genshin Impact 4.6 Release Date
Game Is Following Its Regular Six-Week Schedule With No Delays
The Version 4.6 livestream, which was broadcast by HoYoverse on the official Genshin Impact channel on Twitch, revealed the details about the content, as well as the day the next patch is arriving. As confirmed by the developers, Genshin Impact 4.6’s release date is set for April 24. Depending on the time zone, players may gain access to Version 4.6 on April 23, at night. The patch’s release date means the game is sticking to its regular six-week calendar and there have been no delays in content – at least not any that have made it into the final product.

Following the confirmation of a release date, it is unlikely any delays will occur. When they do, normally, HoYoverse pushes back the livestream until the content is ready to be presented.
One New Character & Three Reruns
As was previously announced, Arlecchino is the big new playable character in the patch. The Fatui Harbinger had already been confirmed as a Pyro unit, but the Version 4.6 livestream detailed her as a 5-star polearm user on top of her Vision.

As was predicted by the leaks, Arlecchino is a DPS unit when used in team comps, responsible for dealing the most amount of damage among her teammates. She can infuse Pyro into her Normal Attacks, making her a viable Pyro-reaction enabler, working well with sub-DPS units like Xingqiu, Fischl, Raiden Shogun, or Yelan in Genshin Impact, for instance.
“Out of the four 5-star characters, three of them will be main DPS units.”
Arlecchino also has an alternative sprint mechanic, that allows her to move around more swiftly for a short period. This had already leaked but was confirmed by HoYoverse. Arlecchino will debut as a playable character in the Phase 1 banners of Version 4.6, alongside a rerun of her adoptive child, Lyney.

Both are main Pyro DPS units, even though their gameplay styles are drastically different from one another. During Phase 1, the weapons banner in Genshin Impact 4.6 will feature increased drop rates for Arlecchino’s signature polearm, Crimson Moon’s Semblance, and Lyney’s signature bow, The First Great Magic.
Arlecchino’s polearm shifts into a scythe when equipped by her – when others use it, the weapon remains in its polearm state. When Arlecchino uses another polearm, that weapon gains the outline of a scythe’s blade but does not fully transform.
Phase 2 banners, on the other hand, will be composed of reruns of Wanderer and Baizhu. Their signature weapons, Tulaytullah's Remembrance and Jadefall's Splendor, respectively, will be featured in the weapons banner during the period in which they rerun. Out of the four 5-star characters, three of them will be main DPS units.

The 4-star characters for each banner phase have not yet been formally announced, but it is safe to presume that at least Lynette and Freminet will make some sort of appearance, given their important presence in the new Arlecchino-focused story quests added with Genshin Impact 4.6.
Story Quests, New Area, & Boss Fights In Genshin Impact 4.6
Character Quests Set In The South Of Fontaine & Sumeru
In addition to the new playable character and reruns in banners, HoYoverse also announced two new sets of Character Quests. One of them is centered around Arlecchino and the House of the Hearth orphanage in Fontaine, where Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet grew up.
The nature of the quest seems rather elusive, though there are indications that the Knave is planning some sort of handover in responsibilities to one of her children and may even be leaving Fontaine, as suggested by a dialogue with Neuvillette, presented in the trailer broadcast during the Genshin Impact 4.6 livestream.
The other Character Quest will be centered around Cyno, and will be set in the region of Sumeru. Like the Arlecchino quests, the exact nature of the storyline seems blurry, but it does revolve around Cyno and how the General Mahamatra gained his powers.
There are even mentions of Cyrus, a sage of the Akademiya who tutored Cyno, and the “revival of our lord” in Sumeru. The previously leaked Sethos for Genshin Impact 4.7 will make his debut as an NPC during this questline, as confirmed by the livestream. Tighnari, Collie, Alhaitham, and Kaveh are confirmed to appear, too.

The region of Fontaine is also having an expansion to its southern borders with the introduction of the small island of Petricor. Beneath it, however, lies the ruins of the ancient civilization of Remuria, which should be explored in new World Quests.
Players who have completed Act 3 of the Archon Quests in Fontaine will automatically unlock a Teleport Waypoint to the area, to facilitate getting started. The ruins of Remuria will have an exclusive musical mechanic for exploration and players will be guided through the area by a talking cat.
The livestream also mentioned an encounter with a dragon in the deep seas and, considering the lore of Remuria, it is very likely this creature is Scylla in Genshin Impact, who challenged the tyrant God King Remus – an event that led to the downfall of that civilization.
Through Arlecchino’s Character Quest, players will unlock a new weekly boss encounter called The Knave, which will see them face an enhanced form of the Fatui Harbinger with two combat phases.

Players above AR 40 will be able to use the Quick Start feature to unlock the battle before completing the quest. In the depths of Remuria, they will also encounter a new world boss called the Legatus Golem, in the Statue of Marble and Brass challenge.
Two new Artifact sets are also being added with Version 4.6. Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy and Unfinished Reverie were announced, but their effects were not described during the livestream. The double release indicates that there will be a new Domain to unlock with the upcoming Genshin Impact 4.6 patch, where the two Artifact sets can be farmed.

The flagship event in Version 4.6 will be a musical rock and roll tour organized by Arataki Itto in collaboration with Dvorak, who appeared in 2023’s Lantern Rite Festival. The event will be musical and players will have different activities to complete, including playing music, collecting materials, and inviting more musicians through a mini-game. Those who participate will get the new Nightwind Horn musical instrument, as well as a free copy of Gorou, and several other materials, including Primogems in Genshin Impact.
The upcoming patch will also see the return of the Windtrace event, which will bring new and updated mechanics to the traditional hide-and-seek mini-game. The Vibro-Crystal Applications battle event is also returning with new types of buff combinations and trial characters to use when building temporary team comps.

A new boss event, initially leaked as the return of the Legend of the Vagabond Sword, will also debut. Called Specially-Shaped Saurian Search, this event will see players facing several types of bosses in Genshin Impact while adjusting modifiers and difficulty to enhance the rewards obtained.
HoYoverse also announced an Overflowing Mastery event for Version 4.6, which will grant a limited amount of double the Talent Books when farming Domains. Another important aspect of the patch is the Focused Experience Mode, which should provide a smoother story experience by diminishing interruptions during story quests and allowing players to go to the end without having to sidetrack to complete other missions.
Other quality-of-life updates include optimizations to the Serenitea Pot, the avatar system, and Treasure Compasses. There is a lot in store for Genshin Impact 4.6, even if it is gearing up for Natlan’s release later this year.
